- Our Services
At Burkin Svendsens Funerals we offer a range of services to help honour and remember the person who is gone, in a personal way.
There is no one size fits all when it comes to funerals, and there are many ways to create an authentic, meaningful service that is relevant and true to the life that was lived.
Call us on (07) 4054 5400 or contact us online to arrange a funeral service.
Some choices will directly impact the type of service you will have, mainly if it will be a burial or a cremation, and which cemetery or memorial park that will be used. Once these decisions have been made, you can be creative and add many unique touches to the ceremony if you choose. Even a religious or traditional service can still have a personal touch.
We can help you with a range of other options including; creating a eulogy, interstate or international repatriation, custom decorated coffins from LifeArt, viewings, wakes and after-funeral functions, and physical and online memorials.
We also offer you the chance to arrange your own funeral ahead of time, a good option instead of funeral insurance. Save your family and friends the added stress, and pay today's prices for your future service when you prepay your funeral with Burkin Svendsens Funerals.
Centrelink does offer a variety of payments to assist with funeral expenses. A guideline is listed below.
- Married Pensioners - the surviving partner may receive a lump sum bereavement payment of up to seven payments when the pension is adjusted to a single entitlement.
- Carer's Pension - the carer may be entitled to a bereavement payment of up to seven pay periods.
- Sole Parent Pension - the parent may be entitled to a bereavement payment of up to seven pay periods.
Bereavement benefits are available in many circumstances. For more information about thses, phone Centrelink on 13 23 00 or visit the website at www.centrelink.gov.au
Please note that entitlements may change without notice and we recommend you contact your nearest Centrelink office for more information.
When you can't afford a funeral for a deceased relative or a friend, and their assets won’t cover their funeral cost, you may be eligible for burials assistance from the government.
To be eligible, you must be able to prove that:
- you are a friend or relative of the deceased person; and
- you have spoken to other family members to confirm that no-one can arrange or pay for the funeral.
If you are eligible for burials assistance, the Queensland Government will pay for a simple burial or cremation on your behalf.
Please note: strict conditions apply to the inclusions of the funeral. When burial assistance is granted, the government will contact the contracted funeral director, in this case, Burkin Svendsens Funerals.
To apply for burials assistance, please contact your local courthouse.
Other allowances may be paid through the following institutions:
- Department of Veteran's Affairs
- Insurance companies
- Private Health Funds
- Victims of Crime Compensation Unit, Queensland
- Credit Card Insurance
